New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: The versatile Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Mumbai's Kokilaben hospital following a colon infection, said his official spokesperson.
"Yes, it is true that Irrfan khan is admitted to ICU at Kokilaben in Mumbai because of a colon infection. We would keep everyone updated. He is under doctor's observation," said the spokesperson of the 'Hindi Medium' actor as quoted by ANI.
“His strength and courage have helped him battle and fight so far and we are sure with his tremendous willpower and prayers of his well-wishers, he will recover soon,” the statement added. He further said that the 53-year-old actor's team believes that the prayers of his well-wishers will help him recover soon.
Last week, Khan lost his mother who passed away in Jaipur due to natural causes. The “Piku” actor could not attend his mother's funeral because of the nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Irrfan recently made a return to Bollywood with his film 'Angrezi Medium'-- a sequel to his 2017 hit "Hindi Medium. But, his health condition prevented him from promoting the movie, which hit the theatres in March just before the lockdown that began on March 25.
The film could only run for a day on silver screen due to the coronavirus pandemic that forced theatres in every part to be shut in order to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Irrfan is known for his noteworthy performances in movies like "Haasil", "Maqbool", "Paan Singh Tomar", "The Namesake", "Life of Pi" and "The Lunchbox".
He had been on a year-long break after being diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in 2018.
