I-Day: ‘Mission Mangal’ and ‘Batla House’ will charge you with patriotism and motivation
New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Independence Day is celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm in the country and people celebrate this day with hoisting national flags, singing patriotic songs, fly kites and by participating in cultural events.
The Independence Day will see the release of some big banner movies -- Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal and John Abraham’s Batla House.
Mission Mangal is based on the story of scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission, which marked India's first interplanetary expedition.
The movie is directed by Jagan Shakti and it stars an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi, H. G. Dattatreya and Sonakshi Sinha.
It would be in a direct tussle with Batla House which is inspired by the Batla House encounter case that took place in 2008. The movie is directed by Nikkhil Advani and written by Ritesh Shah.
The film stars John Abraham in the lead role of a police officer named Sanjeev Kumar Yadav. It also features Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Manish Chaudhari, Rajesh Sharma, Kranti Prakash Jha and Nora Fatehi.
This is not the first time when Akshay Kumar and John Abraham are clashing at the box office. Last year, Akshay's 'Gold' and John's 'Satyameva Jayate' were released on Independence Day and both worked well at the box office. And this Independence Day, the duo is back for another clash.
However, the movies will also face a compettion from Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood starring Leonardo DeCaprio and Brad Pitt and Netflix's popular series Sacred Games season 2 which will be releasing on the same day.
