New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Losing your loved ones is the most difficult phase in one's life, the moment when one is in pain and is emotionally broke. Sutapa Sikdar who lost her husband, the versatile actor Irrfan Khan, on Wednesday, chose to fight this tragic time with courage.

Yesterday, Sutapa took to Instagram to post an old picture of hers with Irrfan Khan, and wrote," I have not lost, I have gained in every which way."

The veteran actor died aged 53, succumbing to a colon infection, in Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, on Wednesday morning. The last rites of the actor were joined by directors Tigmanshu Dhulia, Vishal Bhardwaj, and Abhinay Deo, who had worked with Irrfan Khan in his classics such as Paan Singh Tomar, Maqbool, and Blackmail.

The actor was buried at Mumbai's Versova Kabrastan, on Thursday in presence of family and close friends.

An official statement released by the family said that Khan spent his last hours "surrounded by his love, his family for whom he most cared about."

"I trust, I have surrendered"; These were the some of the many words that Irrfan expressed in a heart-felt note he wrote in 2018 opening up about his fight with cancer. And a man of few words and an actor of silent expressions with his deep eyes and his memorable actions on screen. It's saddening that this day, we have to bring forward the news of him passing away. Irrfan was a strong soul, someone who fought till the very end and always inspired everyone who came close to him. After having been struck by lightning in 2018 with the news of a rare cancer, he took life soon after as it came and he fought the many battles that came with it. Surrounded by his love, his family for whom he most cared about, he left for heaven abode, leaving behind truly a legacy of his own. We all pray and hope that he is at peace. And to resonate and part with his words he had said, "As if I was tasting life for the first time, the magical side of it."

The actors' art had its fragrance all over the world, apart from Bollywood Irrfan's contribution to Hollywood blockbusters like Life of Pi, Jurassic World, and The amazing spiderman had magnetized love from all over the world. Sutapa and Irrfan married each other in 1995 and were together since then, both of them were the alumni of the National School of Drama.
