New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s former girlfriend Ankita Lokhande recently approached producer Ekta Kapoor to talk about bringing back the sequel of the 2009-renowned daily soap Pavitra Rishta as a tribute to the late actor.

Sushant Singh Rajput had started his career in the TV industry with Pavitra Rishta opposite Ankita Lokhande. According to a report, to revive the journey of ‘Manav’ aka Sushant Singh Rajput, ex-girlfriend Ankita asked Ekta Kapoor to make Pavitra Rishta 2 as a tribute to the talented actor who died by suicide on June 14.

“The show was close to Sushant's heart as it gave him the platform to scale new heights and both Ekta and Ankita feel that a new season will be the best tribute to the deceased actor," a source close to the development told Mumbai Mirror.

"Since Pavitra Rishta is a special show for her too, she immediately agreed. She will sit with her team of writers and explore how to take the daily soap forward," a source revealed to Mumbai Mirror.

Pavitra Rishta marked late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s first step towards his career. The show was admired by millions and Sushant became popular for his show name Manav, who performed the role of an ideal husband.

The show ran from 2009 to 2014. Sushant Singh Rajput and co-star Ankita Lokhande fell in love and had been in a relationship for six years, however, they later separated with mutual understanding.

Sushant Singh Rajput had committed suicide on June 14. Police informed that the actor was battling with depression and was taking anti-depressant pills from the last six months. Investigations are still going on to check if there was any professional rivalry.
