Mumbai | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Bollywood sensation Deepika Padukone and India’s ace shuttler PV Sindhu on Tuesday were named as the ambassadors of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative called ‘Bharat Ki Laxmi’  that aims at bringing commendable work done by women across the nation to light ahead of the Diwali festival. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday shared a video of the newly launched campaign which highlighted the social cause of empowering women and lifting up their status in the society. While sharing the video on his official Twitter handle, he wrote, "India's Nari Shakti epitomises talent and tenacity, determination and dedication. Our ethos has always taught us to strive for women empowerment. Through this video, @Pvsindhu1 and @deepikapadukone excellently convey the message of celebrating #BharatKiLaxmi."

In the video, both the ambassadors, Deepika Padukone and PV Sindhu can be seen talking about the success and the journey to be a successful human being. They also talked about achieving their dreams by overcoming social pressure and getting rid of personal insecurities. Both the ambassadors also asked the fans to share their stories of inspiring women who have achieved extraordinary success without being noticed by anyone.

Deepika shared the video on her Twitter handle and wrote, “This Diwali, let us throw light on & celebrate the contribution & accomplishments of the women of our country! #BharatKiLaxmi”.

Sindhu also shared the video on her Twitter handle and said that societies grow when women are empowered and their accomplishments are given a place of pride. She captioned the video with, "I support PM @narendramodi ji #BharatKiLaxmi movement. It celebrates the extraordinary achievements of extraordinary women of India. This Diwali, let's celebrate womanhood." 

On the work front, Deepika has returned from London, after completing her shoot for Kabir Khan’s ‘83’. She is essaying the role Romi Dev, Kapil Dev’s wife. The film also stars Ranveer Singh in the role of Kapil Dev. Apart from 83, Deepika will next be seen in Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Chhapaak’ in which she plays the role of acid attack survivor Laxmi Aggarwal.
