Box office collection: The Lion King crosses 150 crore mark, Fast and Furious fails to go big
New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: The Lion King is leading the Indian box office. The film which started with decent reviews is topping the charts, crossing Rs 150 crore mark. The Disney remake has earned Rs 150.09 crore in 24 days, Indian film trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed on twitter.
The Lion King had hit the theatres on July 19 and opened with an earning of Rs 11.06 crore and quickly increased its pace to emerge as one of the Hollywood's highest-grossing film. Earlier, it had crossed Rs 50 crore mark in just three days in its opening weekend to become the second highest-grossing movie of this year after Avengers: Endgame.
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan have given their voices for Simmba and Mufasa, the leading characters of the movie for the Hindi version. The film was released in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
In other Hollywood dubbed movies, Fast and Furious: Hobbs & Shaw grossed a total of Rs 55.87 crore at the end of its second weekend. The action thriller includes stalwarts like Dwayne Johnson who works for the US Diplomatic Security Service, and Luke Statham- plays the role of a former UK Special Forces assassin-turned-mercenary and Elba Luther as black Superman.
This film was also released in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu in India. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh had praised film's action scenes and has called The Rock, Jason and Idris Elba trio - terrific.
