New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: John Abraham’s latest movie Batla House which is facing tough competition from Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal, is going good at the box office and made around Rs 12.70 crore on Sunday.

The movie has earned around Rs 47.99 crore in total and is close to cross the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office.

Batla House received a largely positive response from both critics and audience and John is overwhelmed with the response movie has received.

“In my career I've never seen such a large wave of appreciation from the audience and the critics unanimously for the film, my performance, Nikkhil's direction. It has been overwhelming. Through this film, we are part of something really special which cannot be translated it manifested by the numbers we are getting for it,” said John.

Batla House is inspired by the controversial Batla House encounter case that took place in September 19, 2008, against Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorists in the Batla House locality in Jamia Nagar, Delhi. The movie is directed by Nikkhil Advani and written by Ritesh Shah.

The film stars John Abraham in the lead role of a police officer named Sanjeev Kumar Yadav. It also features Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, Manish Chaudhari, Rajesh Sharma, Kranti Prakash Jha and Nora Fatehi.
