Bachchans responding well to COVID-19 treatment, likely to get discharged in couple of days: Report
Mumbai | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who tested positive for novel coronavirus along with his son Abhishek, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai and granddaughter Aaradhya, is responding well to the treatment, news agency PTI quoted hospital sources as saying.
This comes a day after Aishwarya Rai and her daughter Aaradhya were admitted to Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital after experiencing a mild fever. The mother-daughter duo was self-quarantining at home till Thursday.
According to PTI, Amitabh and Abhishek are in the isolation ward of the Nanavati Hospital since July 11 while Aishwarya and her eight-year-old daughter Aaradhya were shifted to the facility on Friday night.
“They all (referring to Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek, Aishwarya and Aaradhya) are ok. They are responding well to the treatment. They are in the isolation ward. Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan will be in the hospital maybe for a day or two,” a hospital source told PTI.
“Aishwarya had cough. She is ok now. Aishwarya and Aaradhya will have to be in the hospital for a couple of days,” the source further told PTI.
Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek had tested positive for coronavirus and were admitted to the Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai. However, Aishwarya, Aaradhya and Amitabh’s wife Jaya had tested negative in antigen test but later the mother-daughter duo tested positive in the swab test report.
“Aishwarya and Aaradhya have also tested COVID-19 positive. They will be self quarantining at home. The BMC has been updated of their situation and are doing the needful. The rest of the family including my Mother have tested negative. Thank you all for your wishes and prayers,” Abhishek Bachchan had said.
Meanwhile, Amitabh has been regularly updating his fans about his health through social media. “In happy times, in times of illness, you our near and dear, our well wishers, our fans have ever given us unstinting love , affection care and prayer .. we express our bountiful gracious gratitude to you all .. in these circumstances hospital protocol, restrictive,” the screen icon tweeted on Friday evening.
According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), coronavirus cases on in Mumbai rose to 98,979 with 1,228 new patients being reported on Friday. Death toll due to the pandemic rose to 5,582 with 62 new fatalities being recorded.
