New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Anushka Sharma’s Paatal Lok has been widely appreciated by fans ever since its release with many comparing it with the likes of Mirzapur and Scared Games. However, the actress might face some issues over the web series as a Gorkha community has filed a complaint against her over remarks made on the community members in the web series, reported NDTV.

According to NDTV report, the All Arunachal Pradesh Gorkha Youth Association filed a complaint against Anushka, who is the producer of the web series, over alleged "sexist slur" made against the community in Paatal Lok.

The Bharatiya Gorkha Yuva Parisangh (BhaGoYuP), the youth wing of Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh, has also filed a petition, alleging that the objectionable remarks have been used against a woman character. The groups claim that the clip “normalises racism against the community”.

“Such stereotyping not only maligns the community as a whole but normalizes such racism as a standard practice for the people. It sets a distorted image among people regarding a certain community, the brunt of which, the people living there have to face,” President of BhaGoYuP Nanda Kirati Dewan said, as quoted by NDTV.

Paatal Lok is crime thriller that is premiered on Amazon Prime. It has been produced by Anushka Sharma and directed by Prosit Roy and Avinash Arun. The series -- which stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Gul Panag, Neeraj Kabi, Swastika Mukherjee, Ishwak Singh and Abhishek Banerjee -- is about a disillusioned cop who lands the case of an assassination attempt gone wrong.

The series has been much appreciated by fans and many Bollywood actors have also praised the series.
