New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and his actor son Abhishek Bachchan were admitted to Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital on Saturday after testing positive for coronavirus. The father-son due took to Twitter to confirm the news. 

Soon after Amitabh confirmed the news, Abhishek also tweeted about being tested positive and being hospitalised. 

"T 3590 -I have tested CoviD positive .. shifted to Hospital .. hospital informing authorities .. family and staff undergone tests , results awaited .. All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested," he tweeted. 

"Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital. We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic. Thank you," wrote Abhishek Bachchan. 

The BMC has been in touch and we are complying with them, he added. 

As per media reports, Amitabh's wife Jaya Bachchan, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and grand-daughter Aaradhya and have tested negative for coronavirus. 

According to a Zee News report, while the antigent tests of Aishwarya, Jaya and Aaradhya have come negative, the results for swab tests are expected on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Public Relation Officer of the Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital in Mumbai has said that Amitabh Bachchan is stable with mild symptoms and is currently admitted in the isolation unit of the hospital.

Within minutes of Amitabh's post, the get well soon wishes began pouring in, flooding Twitter and other social media platforms. Fans and his colleagues from the film industry posted their best wishes for the star, one of India's most loved and best known actors.

It is widely known that the 77-year-old is a TB and Hepatitis B survivor. He is still surviving on 25 per cent liver function.

Over the past months, celebrities including Aamir Khan, Karan Johar, Janhvi Kapoor and others announced that members of their staff had tested positive for the virus.

Reacting to the news, Union Health Ministere Harsh Vardhan wished him a speedy recovery. "Dear Amitabh ji, I join the whole Nation in wishing you a quick recovery! After all, you are the idol of millions in this country, an iconic superstar! We will all take good care of you. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!" he tweeted. 

In April this year, Bachchan shared a post on social media, expressing his worry over losing his vision. 

"The eyes they see blurred images .. the vision reads double and for some days now I reconciled myself to the fact that blindness is on its way, to add to the million other medical problems that invest in me...(sic)," he wrote in the post. 

Remembering his mother Teji Bachchan and how she used to comfort his eyes, Amitabh wrote, "But of those early years when Ma used to take the edge of the sari, the 'pallu', make a soft round ball with it, blow into it to make it warm and place it on the eye .. and BAM! problem solved...(sic)."

His doctor, however, reassured him that he is not going blind. 

"So followed that .. hot watered a hand towel and placed it on the eyes .. spoke to the doc and followed his instruction of putting in prescribed eye drops every hour .. reassured me that I was not going blind - that there was far too much time being spent in front of the computer .. the eyes were tired .. that's all...(sic)," hr wrote.

Amitabh was last seen in Shoojit Sircar's comedy-drama Gulabo Sitabo alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, which was initially schedule for a big-ticket launch but was later released on Amazon Prime Video, in wake of the coronavirus crisis. 

His upcoming movies include Chehre, Brahmastra and Jhund. He is also set to host the twelfth season of Kaun Banega Crorepati. The auditions of the show concluded in May this year.

On the other hand, the news of Abhishek testing positive for coronavirus comes a day after he made his digital debut with Breathe: Into The Shadows, which was launched on Amazon Prime Video.
