New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Bollywood actor and producer Ajay Devgn is gearing up for his upcoming film ‘Maidaan’. As per the actor’s latest tweet, the film will be releasing on August 13 next year. Based on the "golden years of Indian football", the film will portray an untold story ‘that will make every Indian proud’.

The Drishyam actor recently took to Twitter to share the release date of Maidaan alongside with the poster. The poster features Ajay Devgn as a couch with passionate eyes and balls. Behind him are standing a group of trainers. 

“2021 Independence week. An untold story that will make every Indian proud. 13th August mark the date. #Maidaan2021,” the 51-year-old wrote while sharing the picture on Twitter.

The biopic Maidaan is directed by Amit Ravindranath Sharma and jointly produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Arunava Sengupta, and Akash Chawla. The lead role features Ajay Devgn and Priyamani. It is based on Syed Abdul Rahim, the legendary football coach and his passion to never give up. His 90-minute match with many hurdles finally met a glorious win and made India the first-ever Asian country to achieve this place. His tenure is still regarded as ‘golden age’.

Speaking about Ajay Devgn, movie critic Taran Adarsh on Saturday announced that the 51-year-old actor will be producing a film on Galwan Valley clash between India and Chinese troops which took the lives of 20 brave Indian soldiers. According to his tweet, the film will narrate the story of soldiers who had sacrificed their lives. However, the title and casting are not finalised yet.

Ajay Devgn has a chain of films ahead of him. Currently, he’s gearing up for his war-action film Bhuj: The Pride of India, based on the life of IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, the then in-charge of the Bhuj airport who and his team reconstructed the IAF airbase with the help of 300 local women. Due to coronavirus pandemic, it will be releasing on the OTT platform Disney Plus Hotstar on 14 August.
