Mumbai | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Day after Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan tested positive for coronavirus, his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and granddaughter Aaradhya have also tested positive for the dreadful infection, news agency AFP quoted a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official as saying.

Earlier in the day, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope in a tweet had said that Aishwarya and her daughter Aaradhya had tested positive for coronavirus. In his tweet, Tope had also said that Aishwarya's mother-in-law Jaya Bachchan has tested negative for COVID-19. The Maharashtra Health Minister, however, deleted his tweet just minutes later, causing a confusion. 

"Smt. Aishwarya Rai Bacchan and Daughter Aaradhya Abhishek Bacchan have also been detected positive for COVID-19. Smt. Jaya Bachhan ji is tested negative for COVID-19. We wish the Bacchan Family to get well soon with a speedy recovery," Tope had said in his tweet. 

Meanwhile, the Filmfare also tweeted that Aishwarya Rai and Aaradhya have tested negative for coronavirus. Moments later, the Filmfare also deleted its tweet and said that the mother-daughter duo have tested positive for COVID-19.   

This came just hours after Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said that Aishwarya Rai and her mother-in-law Jaya Bachchan have tested negative for coronavirus. The mayor had also informed that Jalsa, the residence of the Bachchans, is now a containment zone and all residents have been quarantined for 14 days. Later, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials had put a banner outside Jalsa to define it as a containment zone.

Amitabh Bachchan, son Abhishek test positive for coronavirus

Amitabh Bachchan and his family had took the rapid antigen detection test on Saturday. While Amitabh and his son Abhishek tested positive for coronavirus in the rapid antigen detection test, Aishwarya, Aaradhya and Jaya Bachchan were marked negative. 

Later, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope had said that the swab test results of Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Aaradhya will be out on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Amitabh and his son Abhishek were admitted at the Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai after they tested positive for coronavirus. Big B, however, is now stable is currently admitted at the isolation unit of the hospital, said the Nanavati Hospital in a statement.   

"I have tested COVID positive. Shifted to Hospital. Hospital informing  authorities, family and staff undergone tests, results awaited. All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested," Amitabh Bachchan had said on Saturday.

Later, Amitabh's son Abhishek also took to twitter to inform that he and his father tested positive for coronavirus. "Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital. We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic. Thank you," Abhishek had said.

Amitabh Bachchan has a plethora of health issues. The veteran actor was diagnosed with tuberculosis in 2000. He had also contracted Hepatitis B virus while undergoing treatment for his near-fatal accident in 1982. Earlier this year, the 77-year-old actor had said that he is worried over losing his vision. 

Amitabh Bachchan was last seen in Shoojit Sircar's Gulabo Sitabo while his son Abhishek recently seen in Breathe: Into the Shadows which was released on Amazon Prime Video on July 10.
