New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Actor Irrfan Khan on Wednesday passed away at the age of 54 after he was admitted to Mumbai's Kolikaben hospital, where he was kept under observation for colon infection, said a report published in Hindustan Times. In 2018, the actor had said that he had been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour. The sad news was shared by filmmaker Shoojit Sircar, who in a tweet post, wrote, "My dear friend Irfaan. You fought and fought and fought. I will always be proud of you.. we shall meet again.. condolences to Sutapa and Babil.. you too fought, Sutapa you gave everything possible in this fight. Peace and Om shanti. Irfaan Khan salute."

Sharing a tweet, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal that he was shocked to hear demise of the actor. 

In the post, he wrote, "Shocked to hear of the demise of Irrfan Khan, one of the most exceptional actors of our time. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar also tweeted, "Irfan Khan was a versatile actor. Sorry to hear about his demise. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fans. Om Shanti."

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot wrote, "I am saddened and shocked to know about the untimely demise of one of our country's most versatile actors, #IrrfanKhan. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and fans. May God give them strength. May his soul rest in peace."

Sending out a tweet, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren wrote, "Absolutely shocked and sad to hear about the demise of #IrrfanKhan. An exceptional actor of our times, he will be remembered for his meaningful & impactful work. Our prayers are with his family and loved ones."

Comedian Suresh Menon also expressed his thoughts on the demise of the actor. In a tweet post, he wrote, "Terrible terrible news ... such a simple down to earth person, will never get over making those paper helicopters and playing around during the shooting of krazzy 4.. Irrfan bhai where ever you are we will miss you from the bottom of our hearts RIP #IrrfanKhan."
