New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal on Saturday took to Instagram to pay tribute to one of India’s finest Army chiefs – Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw on his death anniversary.

The Uri: The Surgical Strike actor, who will play the role of the legendary Army chief in his biopic, also shared a new look of himself as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw from the movie. Along with it, he added a note that reads, “A huge honour and an even bigger responsibility”.

The 32-year-old actor also shared a brief video of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. "Remembering one of India's finest - Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. This journey is going to be very special," he said while sharing the video.

Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw is considered as one of the best Army chiefs. He played a crucial in the 1971 Indo-Pak war and the creation of Bangladesh which was formerly known as East Pakistan.

Sam Manekshaw was also the second Indian Army officer to be ranked as Field Marshal – the other being Field Marshal KM Cariappa.

Other than being a courageous fighter, Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw was also a great team leader that the history has ever witnessed. He died of complications from pneumonia on June 27, 2008.

Manekshaw’s life will be portrayed by actor Vicky Kaushal in the next film directed by Meghna Gulzar. His appearance was made similar to Field Marshal in the film as he has shared some of his glimpses on his official Instagram handle.

The Uri: The Surgical Strike actor Vicky Kaushal has a lineup of his movies. He will be seen in a patriotic based film on the life of Udham Singh who was hanged to death for killing General O’Dwyer - the man who murdered innocents in Jallianwalalbagh Massacre in 1919. His last appearance on the big screen was Bhoot - Part one that hit theatres in February.
