West Bengal Assembly Election 2021

The 294-seat West Bengal Assembly will go to polls from March 27 to April 29 while the counting of votes will take place on May 2. The elections, which will decide the fate of Mamata Banerjee as the Chief Minister of West Bengal, will see a fierce contest between the Trinamool Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Left-Congress alliance. Though the TMC had swept the 2016 assembly polls, the BJP will be buoyed by its success in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections where it had managed to bag 14 of the 42 seats in the state.

The BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has also upped its ante against the TMC and has launched 'Parivartan Yatra' in the state against Mamata Banerjee. In response, the TMC has been organising several rallies in the state and has accused the BJP of misleading people and inciting violence in the state.
