New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Hours after the Gautam Budh Nagar Police registered an FIR against Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and other Congress leaders, Baghel on Monday slammed the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government stating "If you campaign against Rajnath Singh's son, this will happen".
On Sunday, Gautam Budh Nagar Police registered an FIR against the Chhattisgarh CM and others for violating COVID-19 norms while campaigning door-to-door in Noida for the upcoming assembly elections.
Taking to Twitter, the senior Congress leader early on Monday claimed that a total of four people were with him, but seeing them a crowd started showing up, terming it "enthusiasm of the people towards the Congress".
"My own security team, the police department of Uttar Pradesh and then dozens of media companions. On top of that, the narrow streets of the village and the enthusiasm of the people towards the Congress. A total of four people were with me, but the crowd started showing up. And If you campaign against Rajnath ji's son, this will happen," he said.
— Bhupesh Baghel (@bhupeshbaghel) January 16, 2022
कुल जमा चार लोग मेरे साथ थे पर भीड़ दिखने लगी।
और मा. राजनाथ जी के बेटे के ख़िलाफ़ प्रचार करें तो इतना तो होगा। #FIR #DoorToDoor
The cheif minister further raised questions on the Election Commission and said that the BJP leaders are also doing door-to-door campaigns in different parts of the state but no FIR has been registered against them and asserted that it shows the bisaness of the Election Commission at the beginning itself.
"Why was the FIR only against me? How will election campaign happen like this? Why was there no FIR against BJP's election campaign in Amroha? EC's biasness is visible at the beginning itself. I will again go to UP, what will we do if not campaign?", Bhaghel said.

"The election commission should give a demo on how to do election campaigning. We will do it exactly like that. BJP has been campaigning door-to-door for 5 days in Amroha, why are there no actions on that? I campaigned only y'day. EC should be fair", he added.
Baghel was campaigning for Congress candidate Pankhuri Pathak, who has been pitted against BJP's sitting MLA in Noida and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's son Pankaj Singh for the upcoming assembly elections.
Meanwhile, elections for the 403 assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases starting February 10, the Election Commission said. The polling in Uttar Pradesh will be held on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27 and March 3 and 7 in seven phases. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
Notably, Congress has been out of power in the state for more than 30 years. In the 2017 Assembly elections, the BJP won a landslide victory winning 312 Assembly seats. The party secured a 39.67 per cent vote share in the elections for 403-member Assembly. Samajwadi Party (SP) bagged 47 seats, BSP won 19 while Congress could manage to win only seven seats.
