Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019: 60.5% voter turn out recorded till 6 pm | As it Happened
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: 60.5% voter turnout has been recorded in Maharashtra till 6 pm as the voting ends in all districts. Bollywood celebs including Shah Rukh Khan along with his wife Gauri Khan, Kareena Kapoor accompanied by his son Taimur and BJP MP from Gurdaspur Sunny Deol were seen casting their votes from their respective constituencies.
Over 8 crore voters of Maharashtra are currently casting their votes to choose their representatives on the 288 seats legislative assembly. The voting started at 7 am and concluded at 6 pm.
Nandurabar district crossed the 62.38% voter turnout, while the Raigad district witnessed 59.27% voter turnout. In the Kolhapur district, 69.04% voter turnout has been recorded making it the highest in Maharashtra till the end. In other districts like Sangli, Jalna, Hingoli and Pune, 61.25%, 62.64%, 63.07%, and 52.80% voter turnout has been recorded respectively.
The ruling Fadvanis government is confident enough to retain its power by terming the opposition as weak without any competition, while the NCP-Congress association has attacked the ruling party on a number of issues including unemployment and prevailing economic slowdown in the country.

7:40 pm: As many as 59 Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units and 19 Electronic Voting Machines were replaced in Nagpur district due to glitches on Monday, reported news agency PTI. Fifty-nine VVPAT machines, 34 control units and 19 ballot units (EVMs) were replaced due to technical glitches in 12 assembly constituencies of the district, the District information office said, according to PTI.
7:00 pm: Final voter turnout till 6 pm registered at 60.5%, says Election Commission at a press conference
6:00 pm: 55.51% voter turn out recorded till 6 pm, which is likely to increase.
5:30 pm: Former President Pratibha Patil cast her vote at NCL School in Pune.

4:20 pm: Reports of a scuffle came in from Maharashtra's Beed and Jalna districts as the state voted for the Assembly polls on Monday. In Beed's Balepeer area supporters of Shiv Sena candidate Jaydatt Kshirsagar and NCP candidate Sandeep Kshirsagar had an altercation over allegations of vehicles being used to ferry voters to polling booths, an official said. The area was tense for a while before police, as well as the two candidates, defused the situation, he added. In Jalna's Jamkhed area two groups owing allegiance to local leaders clashed before being separated by police, an official said.

1:50 pm: Faulty EVMs delayed polling at some booths in Maharashtra's Ratnagiri and Bhandara districts on Monday, an official said. Polling was also halted for some time at a booth in the Worli area of Mumbai due to a technical error, he said. The state Congress unit also sent 187 complaints to the Election Commission of the malfunctioning of EVMs.

12:45 pm: In 2014 assembly elections in Maharashtra, the Bharatiya Janata Party which contested the elections on 260 seats managed to garner 122 seats, while its alliance Shiv Sena managed 63 seats. Thus forming the government. Opposition Congress and NCP had garnered 42 and 41 seats respectively.
