Mumbai | Jagran News Desk: The Supreme Court on Sunday heard the plea filed by the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress and issued a notice to Centre, Maharashtra government, Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar. The top court also asked the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to produce relevant documents from Governor’s letter for inviting BJP to form government and letter of support of MLAs by 10.30 am on Monday.

This comes after BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis and NCP’s Ajit Pawar took oath as Chief Minister and deputy CM of the state on Saturday. The oath was administered by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyrai at the Raj Bhavan in presence of few BJP and NCP leaders. With this the President's rule -- which was imposed in the state earlier this month -- was also revoked.

The big development, which sparked a political storm in the country, came at a time after the alliance between Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress reached a consensus that Uddhav Thackeray would be the chief minister of the state last night. After this the three allies decided to move the Supreme Court demanding immediate floor test. The top court will now hear their plea against the Governor's decision inviting Devendra Fadnavis to form the government on Sunday.

However, NCP chief Sharad Pawar said that Ajit Pawar’s decision to support the BJP is personal and the party does not endorse or support him. “Ajit Pawar's decision is against the party line and is indiscipline. No NCP leader or worker is in favour of an NCP-BJP government,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena and the Congress lambasted the BJP and called it a ‘black day’ in the history of Maharashtra.

“This is a surgical strike on Maharashtra. We will remain together and see what happens next,” said Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray. The Sena also filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court against Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar taking oath as CM and Deputy CM of Maharashtra respectively.
