Mumbai | Jagran News Desk: The Supreme Court today issued notices to the Centre and Maharashtra government on a petition filed by the Shiv Sena-NCP-Cong combine against the Maharashtra Governor's decision to swear in Devendra Fadnavis as chief minister.
A bench of Justices N V Ramana, Ashok Bhushan and Sanjiv Khanna also isused notices to Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
In a major twist of events, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis and NCP’s Ajit Pawar took oath as Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, ending the month long impasse in the state. However, it sparked a political storm in the country. Later, NCP chief Sharad Pawar said that Ajit Pawar’s decision to support is his personal and party does not support or endorse him adding that it’s against the party line and is indiscipline.
Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress filed a writ petition in Supreme Court against Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari for inviting Devendra Fadnavis to form the government. In their plea, the trio alleged that the Governor’s invite to Fadnavis to form the government and the oath-taking ceremony was illegal and sought quashing of his decision to swear-in him as CM.
