New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: AAP candidate Akhilesh Pati Tripathi, on Tuesday, registered a massive win from the Model Town constituency seat of New Delhi district, defeating BJP’s motormouth Kapil Mishra with a margin of 11,133 votes.

 

Akhilesh garnered 52,594 EVM votes and 71 postal votes, taking his tally of total votes to 52,665, or 52.58 per cent o total votes, according to the official website of Election Commission of India. BJP’s Kapil Mishra second him by garnering 41,532 votes or 41.46 per cent of total votes, while Congress’ Akanksha Ola can only manage 4,085 votes.

 

After registering a thumping victory, Akhilesh Pati Tripathi said that this victory is the victory of work and development done in the national capital by the Aam Aadmi Party. He also hailed his Chief Minister and said that this is the victory of Arvind Kejriwal's dream of a beautiful Delhi.

 

“This is the victory of development & people of Delhi. It is a reply to people who wanted to divide the country&disturb communal harmony. It is the victory of Arvind Kejriwal's dream of a beautiful Delhi”, said Akhilesh Pati Tripathi as quoted by news agency ANI.

 

Akhilesh Pati Tripathi has now scored a hat-trick of wins on the Model Town seat. In 2015, Akhilesh Pati Tripathi defeated Vivek Garg of the BJP by a margin of 16,706 votes. Tripathi got 54,628 or 52.4 per cent of the votes, while Garg polled 37,922 or 36.4 per cent of the votes.

 

In the 2020 Delhi Assembly election, the key candidates in the Model Town constituency are Akhilesh Pati Tripathi of the AAP, Kapil Mishra of the BJP and Akanksha Ola of the Congress.

 

The Model Town seat voted on February 8, with a total voter turnout at 59.35 per cent, along with 69 other constituencies. Voting for the 2020 Delhi assembly election was held on February 8 in a single phase with a final voter turnout of 62.59 per cent.
