New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The results of the recently concluded Delhi Assembly elections 2020 was declared on the official website of Election Commission on Tuesday. In Ballimaran-- which lies under Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency-- the main contest was between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress Party. In this seat, AAP's Imran Hussain won by over 36,612 votes against Congress' Haroon Yusuf.

While Imran Hussain bagged 65,644 votes, Lata Sodhi received 29,472 votes. Haroon Yusuf managed to win just 4802 votes. In the Delhi Assembly elections 2015, Hussain had defeated BJP's Shyam Lal Morwal by a margin of 33,877 votes.

Following his win, Imran took to social media to congratulate party workers and vote margin.

Triangular contest

Earlier in the day, the seat saw a triangular contest between the BJP, AAP and Congress. In initial trends, Haroon Yusuf of Congress was leading after which BJP's Lata Sodhi entered the race by leading in over 1150 votes at around 9.30 am. As the day progressed, Imran Hussain if the BJP went on to extend his lead from 1469 votes to over 36,000 votes at around 3 pm.

As per official trends, AAP was leading on 63 seats in the 70-seat Assembly. BJP was ahead on the other 7 seats.

The polling for the Delhi Assembly elections 2020 took place on February 8. There was a total voter turnout of 62.59 per cent in Ballimaran.
