Delhi Assembly Election 2020

The Delhi Assembly Elections 2020 saw a triangular contest between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, BJP and the Congress. The city-state went to polls on February 8 in single-phase elections and the results for the polls were announced on February 11. In a near-repeat performance of 2015, the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party retained its power with a stunning victory, winning 62 of the 70 assembly seats and leaving the BJP with just eight seats, while the grand old party, Congress, which ruled the state for fifteen long years, again failed to open its account likewise in 2015. According to the final votes tally released by the Election Commission, the AAP won in 62 constituencies with a voting percentage of 53.57, while the BJP got eight seats with a vote share of 38.51 per cent. Arvind Kejriwal took oath as the Chief Minister for the third consecutive time, terming his massive win as the ‘victory of work’. However, the AAP got less number of seats as compared to their 2015 election tally where the party won 67 seats out of 70 in the Delhi Assembly Elections.
