Patna | Jagran News Desk: Janata Dal-United supremo and National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) legislature party leader, Nitish Kumar, on Sunday staked claim to form the government in the state and informed that he will take the oath of the office on November 16. It is expected that his oath taking ceremony will take place at 4.30 pm in Patna on Monday.
"Nitish Kumar elected as the leader of the NDA legislature party," said Rajnath Singh after the NDA legislative meeting.
Nitish, who is dubbed as 'Sushashan Babu', on Sunday was unanimously elected NDA's leader in the state legislature. The announcement was made around 1 pm on Sunday at a meeting, which was also attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, at the Anney Marg in Patna.
Meanwhile, Sushil Kumar Modi said that Tarkishore Prasad has been unanimously elected as the leader of BJP legislature party in Bihar. "I received a lot of things from the BJP and the RSS in 40 years of my political life and I will continue to fulfil whatever responsibility is given to me in the state. No one can take away the post of a party worker," Modi said in a tweet in Hindi.
Fresh young faces likely to get a cabinet berth
While the NDA alliance has not provided any detail about the new cabinet, a report by news agency IANS has claimed that fresh young faces will get a chance in the new government Bihar.
The report quoted NDA sources saying that BJP will likely have a greater say in the cabinet formation in Bihar and many young faces would be infused in the state cabinet.
The exact number of ministers from the JD-U and the BJP is still to be disclosed. However, it is confirmed that both the VIP and HAM (S) will occupy one ministerial berth each in the new Bihar government.
Meanwhile, the NDA -- which includes the BJP, JD(U), Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) -- won the nail-biting Bihar Assembly Elections 2020 by emerging victorious on 125 seats.
The BJP won 74 seats while the JD(U)'s tally was reduced to just 43. Meanwhile, the VIP and Jitan Ram Manjhi's HAM won four seats each in the 243-member Bihar Assembly.
