New Delhi | Jagran Education Desk: The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advanced 2020 will be conducted on August 23, said Ramesh Pokhriyal, Union Human Resource Development Minister, as quoted by news agency ANI. 

The examination is conducted for those students who clear JEE Main examinations.

Nearly 2.5 lakh students based on their JEE Main scores would be eligible to appear in the examination. The announcement will surely bring a huge relief to students preparing for the entrance exam.

The online application process would begin once the final scores of JEE Main 2020 is announced. As per a report from Times Now, the result of JEE Main is expected to be announced by August 10.

Pokhriyal had earlier announced the exam dates of JEE Main and NEET. While the JEE Main exam will be conducted from July 18-23, National Entrance Eligibility Test (NEET) 2020 will be held on July 26. 

The JEE exams are conducted every year for admission to engineering colleges while the NEET exam is held for enrollment to medical colleges.

IIT JEE or JEE Advances is conducted by the IITs, while JEE Main is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Both JEE Advanced and JEE Main are online or computer-based tests.

The HRD Minister Ramesh Pokriyal has earlier announced that no exams for class 10 will be conducted nationwide, except for students of Northeast Delhi. He had also held an interaction session on Facebook and Twitter and gave some tips to students in order to prepare for the competitive exams. 

Meanwhile, the date sheet for class 12's remaining papers are expected soon. There will be at least ten-day timeline for students in order to appear in the examination, as per media reports. 

The Universities and schools across the country have been closed since March 23. The semester exams are likely to held in June, results in July and new academic session may begin in September.
