HRD Ministry to launch Manodarpan, a counselling helpline for emotional well being of students
New Delhi | Jagran Education Desk: The Ministry of Human Resouce Development is set to launch Manodarpan—an initiative aimed at providing psychological support and counselling to students, teachers and families—tomorrow. The inaugural event will be streamed live on Twitter and Facebook accounts of Union HRD Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank
The minister took to Twitter to make the announcement. “Now the results are out, and admissions have started, children would be having psychosocial issues, especially during these unprecedented times of #COVID19. To address such concerns, I am launching #MANODARPAN tomorrow," he said in a tweet.
The platform will act as a sustainable psychosocial support system for all students, teachers & families.

Underlining the need for a proper mechanism to help students who are more vulnerable to emotional and mental stress, the minister added that platform will act as a sustainable psychosocial support system for all students, teachers & families.
Under the initiative, the ministry will launch a toll-free helpline number for a country-wide outreach to students from schools, colleges and universities. It will be managed by a pool of experienced counsellors, psychologists and other mental health professionals. According to reports, as many as 500 experienced counsellors been enrolled to implement the national helpline.
The ministry will also launch a dedicated webpage on its website that would provide the necessary information and resources to the students and teachers that can aid in providing psychosocial support to them. The initiative’s section would provide resources like advisory, practical tips, posters, videos, do's and don'ts for psychosocial support, FAQs and online query system.
