New Delhi | Jagran Education Desk: The HRD Minister Ramnaresh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' on Tuesday announced new dates to conduct JEE Main and NEET 2020 exams during his live session with students on Twitter/ Facebook. The exams for JEE-Advanced will be held in August, the Union Minister added. 

Earlier, the JEE and NEET exams were supposed to be held in May-end but due to lockdown extension, the dates were pushed further.

The admit card is expected to be released at least a week before the exam dates. Strict guidelines are likely to be followed in exam centres. Student needs to wear protective gears like masks. 

Over 15.93 lakh candidates have applied for NEET 2020, while more than 9 lakhs have registered to appear in JEE Main 2020, according to National Testing Agency that conducts these exams.

The HRD Minister also interacted with students in the live session and thanked students for their unity in fighting COVID-19 pandemic. He also shared some tips for JEE Main and NEET like mock test, solving sample papers, limit usage of social media, making a schedule, avoiding stress, among others. He stressed that over 2,000 online contents are available on online platforms like Swayam, Swayam Prabha.

The Union Minister added that the college/university semester exams will be conducted in July and the new academic year will commence in August. He added that the ministry has asked central and state governments to reduce the syllabus for the upcoming academic session.

The exam dates for CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) class 10 and 12 board exams will also be announced this week.

Meanwhile, the application deadline to apply for CSIR-UGC NET 2020 exams has been extended till May 15
