‘Evaluation for class 10, 12 board exams to be done at home by teachers from Sunday’: HRD Ministry
New Delhi | Jagran Education Desk: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is all set to start the process of evaluation of answer sheets of class 10 and 12 students from Sunday as the Ministry of Home Affairs has given its nod to the HRD ministry in this regard.
“The evaluation for class 10, 12 board exams will be done by teachers at their homes and 3,000 schools have been identified as exam centres to deliver the answer sheets to them, Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' said on Saturday as reported by news agency PTI.
These answer sheets will be moved from the 3,000 identified schools to the residence of the qualified teachers who will be assessing the answer sheets. The process of evaluation is expected to be completed in around 50 days.
“1.5 crore answer sheets of already conducted class 10, 12 exams will be delivered to teachers. From the 3,000 schools, these copies will go the evaluators and evaluation will begin tomorrow. Teachers will evaluate from home and we will be able to complete the process in 50 days," the minister added. The minister said meanwhile the tests for 29 other subjects of class X and XII will be held.
The CBSE had been pushing for the permission to carry out the evaluation process of the answer sheets of nearly 18 lakh class 10 students and another 12 lakh class 12 students, which had been halted due to the coronavirus lockdown imposed in the country.
However, the permission to carry out evaluation process has been granted for all areas except for the containment areas, a government official said. Now the CBSE will form a detailed plan according to which evaluation will have to be conducted while keeping social distancing.
Meanwhile, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' on Friday announced that the CBSE will conduct the board exams for class 10 and 12 from July 1 to 15 while adding that the board will announce a detailed schedule of the exams later.
"The students have been impatiently waiting for the schedule for pending exams. It has been decided today that the exams will be conducted from July 1 to 15," he said.
