New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations for Class 10 and Class 12 will begin today. The examinations will be held a period of 39 days, that is from February 15 to March 20. Over 18 lakh students will appear for Class 10 board exams, while more than 12 lakh candidates will take part in class 12 exams.

The candidates are instructed to reach the exam centre at 9.45 am on the examination dates. The examination will begin at 10 am. As per strict guidelines from CBSE, no students would be permitted after 10 am. It is mandatory for candidates to bring their admit card with them to the examination hall.

The CBSE Class 10 board exams will be held at 5376 centres while Class 12 exams will be conducted across 4983 centres in the country.

A total of 18,89,978 candidates will appear in the Class 10 board exam this year. Out of these, 11,01,664 are boys, 7,88,195 are girls and 19 are transgender.

Meanwhile, 6,84,068 boys, 5,22,819 girls and six transgenders will appear in Class 12 board examination.

Besides this, there are a total of 23,844 candidates in Class 10 and 16,103 in Class 12 appearing from foreign schools. 23,755 of these are registered for Class 10, while 15,980 are registered for Class 12 from private schools. Apart from them, 89 candidates and 123 students will appear from Kendriya Vidyalas for Class 10 and 12 exams respectively.

Arrangements have been made across all centres for smooth conduct of the exams.

Among new initiatives taken in board examinations this year includes admit card with 'QR' code. Encrypted question papers have been increased from 19 to 50. A letter has been sent to parents and school authorities by the CBSE to inform about the same.

This is the second consecutive year when the CBSE is conducting board exams in February instead of March.
