WC 2019 | India vs Pakistan: This is how injured Shikhar Dhawan helped his teammates
Manchester | Jagran Sports Desk: Though Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out from the next few matches of the ICC World Cup 2019 but he was up there helping his teammates during the match against Pakistan.
Shikhar Dhawan was seen serving drinks to his teammates at the Old Trafford in Manchester. Dhawan had sustained an injury to his thumb after he was hit by Pat Cummins during the match against Australia at the Oval in London.
According to reports, it would take 10-12 days for Dhawan to fully recover from his injury. His injury was a huge blow to the Indian team as Dhawan has a fantastic record in ICC fifty overs tournament.
Rishabh Pant has been called in as standby for Dhawan. Pant, whose omission from the original squad became a topic of heated debates given his stupendous form in the past year, reached Nottingham on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old is one of the most exciting players to have emerged in Indian cricket. He impressed with Test hundreds during the tours of England and Australia earlier and was in fine form during the IPL last month.
Several former players such as Sunil Gavaskar advocated for his inclusion in the squad if Dhawan fails to recover quickly enough for India.
