New Delhi | Jagran Sports Desk: Indian pace bowler Deepak Chahar on Sunday produced a stellar of a performance to help India emerge victorious in the three-match T20I series. The 27-year-old registered the best bowling figures (7/6) in the men's T20Is and broke the record of Sri Lankan spinner Ajantha Mendis. Chahar also became the second player for India after Ekta Bisht to take a hat-trick in T20I and 12th bowler overall in the T20Is.

Following his heroics, he became a part of the BCCI's Chahal TV show along with Shreyas Iyer. Iyer, on the other hand, scored his maiden T20I fifty. He scored 62 runs off just 33 deliveries that included five massive sixes, including a hat-trick. Meanwhile, Chahal became the fastest Indian player to scalp 50 wickets in the shortest version of the game.

Before, Chahar's record-breaking performance in Nagpur, Chahar had held the best bowling figures in T20Is. The leg-spinner had registered a figure of 6/25 against England in 2017.

While introducing Chahar to the interview, Chahal said, "Bade besharam aadmi ho yaar, aaj mera hi record tod diya.''

"It's a good feeling and you don't think about, it just happens. Pace variation was the key as dew factor played a key role. Playing in Chennai (for CSK) has helped him how to keep his hands dry with sand," Chahar said.

Shreyas Iyer also showed a trick after his hat-trick of sixes. He revealed that he wanted to go aftre six sixes but the wide worker from Afif barred him from doing so.

The focus will now shift to the two-match Test series that will start on Thursday (November 14) at Holkar Stadium in Indore. Team India skipper Virat Kohli will make his comeback in the upcoming series while Chahal will not feature in the longer format of the game.
