Rohit, Rahul bring first 100-run opening partnership for India against Pakistan in World Cup
Manchester | Jagran Sports Desk: Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul on Sunday scored the first 100-run opening partnership for India in a World Cup.
In the 19th over, Rahul took a single of Shadab Khan and brought the first 100-run opening stand for India against Pakistan at the World Cup.
Rohit and Rahul laid a wonderful platform for India as they scored 137 runs in just 23 overs.
Earlier, the record of the highest partnership was 90 runs between Sachin Tendulkar and Navjot Singh Sidhu in the 1996 World Cup. In that match, India scored 287 runs and won the match by 37 runs.
This is the seventh time when India is facing Pakistan at a World Cup. So, far India has defeated Pakistan six times in the World Cup.
Last time the two teams faced each other at a World Cup in 2015 in Australia when they won by 76-runs.
India would look to continue their unbeatable record against their arch-rivals in the World Cup while Pakistan would try to change the history this time.
India has played three games and won two of them while the third game was washed out due to rain. While Pakistan, on the other hand, has played four, lost two, won just one game with being washed out.
