New Delhi | Jagran Sports Desk: Indian pace spearhead Mohammad Shami and opening batsman Mayank Agarwal have reached their career-best spots in the latest Test player rankings released by the ICC following the hosts 130-run and an innings victory over Bangladesh in the opening test held in Indore. Shami, who scalped seven wickets in the match climbed eight places to seventh. His rating point (790) is second behind yorker specialist Jasprit Bumrah (832 points).

Agarwal, on the other hand, reached the 11th spot after he slammed 243 runs in India's only innings. The 28-year-old has reached 691 points after managing to score as much as 858 runs in just eight Tests since his debut. Only Sunil Gavaskar (938) has scored more than him in the first eight Tests for team India.

In other developments, allrounder Ravindra Jadeja has advanced four slots to 35th position among batsmen while Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav have moved one place above at 20th and 22nd spots respectively. Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin continues to be in the top 10 bowlers rankings. He moved to the fourth position among all-rounders. For Bangladesh, Mushfiqur Rahim's innings of 43 and 64 helped him move five spots above to reach the 30th position. Among bowlers, Abu Jayed advanced 18 spots to 62nd only after six Tests.

Meanwhile, India has strengthened its position in the ICC World Championship by reaching 300 points. The points range from 60 points for each match of a two-match Test series to 24 for each match of a five-match Test series. The top two teams at the end of the league will play the final in the UK in June 2021 with the winners crowned the World Test Champions.

India will next face Bangladesh in the second day-night Test scheduled to be held at Eden Gardens, Kolkata from November 22 to 26. The hosts are 1-0 ahead in the two-match Test series.
