After proving his mettle in the limited over game, Rohit now proved his talent against the dislikes of many who questioned his role as an opener in Test cricket.

Along with the record of centuries in both innings in his first match as an opener, Rohit also surpassed the 25-year-old record held by Navjot Singh Sidhu to hit most sixes in a test match for India. While Sidhu in 1994 had smashed 8 sixes in a test match against Sri Lanka in Lucknow, Rohit Sharma smashed 13 sixes in the ongoing test match leaving everyone behind. He also breaks the world record held by Wasim Akram to hit most sixes in a test match, who had smashed 12 sixes.

Matthew Hayden, Brendon McCullum, Ben Stokes hold the tied third position in the list with 11 sixes each.
