New Delhi | Jagran Sports Desk: The former captain of Indian cricket team popularly known as the ‘Captain Cool’ does not need any introduction as he is the one who led the Indian cricket to the highest peak, winning three international trophies including the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011, and the inaugural T20I World Cup, a feat that no other captain in the history of cricket has achieved.

Yes, it's none other than Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and its no surprise if he gets a higher rank than any other cricketer in the list of ‘most admired men in India’.

Recently a survey was conducted by ‘YouGov - What the World Thinks’ in which MS Dhoni emerged as the second most admired man in India after Prime Minister Narendra Modi. While PM Modi emerged as the most admired man in India in 2019, ace boxer Mary Kom was rated as the most admired woman in the country. 

MS Dhoni has beaten the likes of current India skipper Virat Kohli and cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar despite being on a low on the graph of his career. Both Sachin and Virat are at number six and seven respectively not making to top five.

According to the survey, Modi has an admiration rating of 15.66 percent, followed by Dhoni with 8.58 percent, while Sachin Tendulkar at number six got 5.81 ratings and Virat at number seven got 4.46 percent.

The other members of the list were Ratan Tata (8.02 percent), Barack Obama (7.36 percent) and Bill Gates (6.96 percent) at number three, four and five respectively.

Among women, Mary Kom (with 10.36 percent admiration rating) is the only Indian who features in the top 25 in the world. Among Indians, those who followed the ace boxer are Kiran Bedi (9.46 percent), Lata Mangeshkar (9.23 percent), Sushma Swaraj (7.13 percent) and Deepika Padukone (6.35 percent).

The sample size of the survey was 42,000 people from across 41 countries to create the list of most admired people in the world, with two separate categories for men and women.
