Top Business News, Latest Updates October 5: Petrol prices fell by 29 paisa, Diesel prices down by 8 paisa

This is the third consecutive day that Petrol and Diesel prices have witnessed a downward trend. The price of petrol reduced by 29 paise while Diesel price slashed by 20 paisa per litre. Earlier the fuel prices had declined by 18 and 8 paisa on Friday. The overall petrol price was reduced by 57 paisa while Diesel price dipped 34 paisa in last three days.
The recent reduction comes after tensions ease in the Gulf region post drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities that took place last month. However, crude oil prices surged by 1.4 per cent.

Rs 76.90 per litre in Chennai
Rs 76.67 per litre in Kolkata
Rs 79.65 per litre in Mumbai
Rs 67.15 per litre in Delhi

Rs 69.51 per litre in Kolkata
Rs 70.39 per litre in Mumbai
Meanwhile, the equity markets remain closed owing to weekend holidays (Sat & Sun). The benchmark Sensex on Friday had closed 433.56 points lower at Rs 37,673.31 after RBI slashed repo rate by 25 basis points. Bank stocks such as Kotak Mahindra Bank, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank were among the worst hit. The broader share Nifty 50 had ended 139 points below to 11, 174 points.
Gold prices were Rs 39,370 per 10 gram of pure gold on Oct 4. The precious yellow metal rose by 0.1 per cent after the US employment data fell 3.5 per cent.

The crude oil price ended at USD 58.43 (1.42 per cent high) per barrel of Brent crude on Friday.
