Today, our main coverage is on metal prices and stock markets. Gold prices had soared by Rs 120 after falling by 0.4 per cent in opening trade in Wednesday trade while equity markets continued their upward trend since the start of this week. Equity markets opened on a high note after optimism over the US-China deal supported investor's sentiments.

Here's how the market fared today:

The equity markets closed higher on Thursday after continuing his gain for fourth consecutive amid optimism amid trade talks between the US and China. The BSE Sensex rose 453 points higher at 39,053 points while Nifty gained 122 points to close over 11,500-mark.

Here's how the markets opened today:

At 1.58 pm, the benchmark Sensex was trading 363 points high at 38, 962 and Nifty rose by 88 points to 11,552 in afternoon trade. 

Earlier, the S&P Sensex surged over 60 points while Nifty added 35 points in the early trade on Thursday led by gains in banking stocks and sustained foreign fund inflows. Earlier the Sensex had zoomed by 93 points in Wednesday's trade.

Nifty: 11,464 points

Rupee opened on a flat note after tracking positive opening in domestic markets and foreign fund inflows, but remained cautious ahead of the Brexit summit that will be held later this week.

Rupee: 71.38 per USD

Meanwhile, Brent crude eased by 0.69 per cent to USD 59.01 per barrel.

Prices of Petrol and Diesel remained stagnant on Thursday.

Petrol prices per litre

Rs 73.27 in Delhi, Rs 76.09 in Chennai, Rs 78.88 in Mumbai and Rs 75.92 in Kolkata.

Diesel prices per litre

Rs 70.15 in Chennai, Rs 66.41 in Delhi, Rs 68.77 in Kolkata and Rs 69.61 in Mumbai.

Among precious metals, Gold prices dipped by 0.2 per cent after rising by Rs 120 in Wednesday's trade.

Gold: Rs 38,131 per 10 grams of pure gold

Silver prices slipped by 0.4 per cent on Thursday.

Silver: Rs 45,181 per kg
