New Delhi | Jagran Business Desk: The Forbes’ list of richest billionaires is finally and as per the data given by it, the collective wealth of India’s richest billionaires has reduced by 23 per cent or USD 313 billion because of the slowing economy and falling consumer demand due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In its report, Forbes said that the total number of Indian billionaires has fallen to 102, versus 106 in 2019. It further said that the novel coronavirus has reportedly brushed off a cumulative USD 408 billion from the world's top 100 billionaires.
Here’s the list of top ten billionaires in India as per Forbes:
Mukesh Ambani, the chairperson of Reliance Industries Ltd, has continued to be the richest person in India. As per Forbes, his net worth has been Rs 2,80,002 crore. However, his wealth has reduced by 28 per cent than what was it in last year largely because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Radhakishan Damani and Family:
As per Forbes, Radhakishan Damani – the founder of the DMart -- is the only Indian in the list who have gained in this year, despite an economic fallout. His net worth has been Rs 1,05,000 crore and this is the first time when he became the second richest person in India.
Shiv Nadar, the founder and chairman of HCL and the Shiv Nadar Foundation, is third on the list with a net worth of Rs 90,544 crore. Nadar’s HCL Technologies has over 1,49,000 employees in 45 countries.
With a net worth of Rs 79,131 crore, Kotak Finance owner Uday Kotak is fourth on the list of India’s richest billionaires. His bank, Kotak Mahindra is the among India's top four banks despite debacles in the banking and finance sector last year.
Taking the fifth spot on the list is the chairman and founder of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani. As per the Forbes, Adani has a net worth of Rs 67,677 crore.
Sunil Mittal and Family:
Sunil Bharti Mittal, the founder and chairman of Bharti Enterprises, is sixth on the list of richest Indians with a net worth of Rs 66,917 crore. The founder of Bharti Airtel also owns the Airtel Payments Bank, which is a joint venture with Kotak Mahindra Bank.
The chairman of the Poonawalla Group, which includes Serum Institute of India, Cyrus Poonawalla is the seventh richest person in India with a net worth of Rs 62,356 crore.
Kumar Mangalam Birla, the chairperson of the Aditya Birla Group, is also among the list of the richest person in India. As per Forbes, he is eight on the list with a net worth of Rs 57,794 crore.
Lakshmi Mittal, the chairman and CEO of the world largest steelmaking company ArcelorMittal, is on the ninth position with a net worth of Rs 56,273 crore. His company had suffered a loss of USD 2.5 billion due to lower steel prices last year.
Azim Premji, chairman of Wipro Limited, is tenth on the list of richest billionaires in India with a net worth of Rs 46,387 crore. He is informally known as the Czar of the Indian IT Industry. His Wipro Limited is the fourth-largest technology outsourcing service providers in India.
