New Delhi | Jagran Business Desk: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will address the media at 4 pm on Friday to announce the third tranche of Rs 20 lakh crore economic stimulus package.

This will be third press conference of the Finance Minister since Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the Rs 20 lakh crore economic stimulus package to revive the economy of the country which has taken a hit because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Prime Minister had said that it will be around 10 percent of the GDP and "will play an important role in the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan' (self-reliant India campaign), adding that the "announcements made by the government so far, the decisions of the RBI and today's package totals to Rs 20 lakh crores".

"This economic package is for that laborer of the country, for that farmer of the country who is working day and night for the countrymen in every situation, every season. This economic package is for the middle class of our country, which pays taxes honestly and contributes to the development of the country," said PM Modi in his fifth address to the nation since coronavirus outbreak on Tuesday.

Sitharaman on Thursday had announced the second tranche of the Rs 20 lakh crore economic stimulus package. In the second tranche of the economic package, the government made nine annoucement -- three for migrants, two for farmers, one for employment generation for farmers, one for housing sector, one for street vendors and one for shishu loan scheme within MUDRA.    

While on Monday, the Finance Minister had announced the first tranche of the economic package. In the first tranche, Sitharaman had announced 16 measures -- six of these are for MSMEs, two are for EPF, two for NBFCs and MFIs, one to discoms, one to contractors, one real estate, three tax measures.
