New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The Union Budget 2020-21 will be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1 at 11.00 am in the Lok Sabha. In the second budget of Modi government 2.0, Sitharaman is expected to announce a slew of measure to revive the Indian economy.

The expectations from the Budget 2020 is high as it comes amid a deep downturn in the economy, investment and lack of jobs. The government has also taken a slew of measures to address the slowdown.

The government recently released the GDP growth data which showed India's GDP growth slowing to an 11-year low of 5 per cent in the current fiscal due to poor showing by the manufacturing and construction sectors.

A day before the budget, that is January 31, the Chief Economic Advisor -- Krishnamurthy Subramanian -- will present the comprehensive report card on the economy. This year, the budget will be presented on Saturday which is an off day for the Parliament. Due to the budget, the stock market -- which remains close on weekends -- will be open for business this weekend.

When will the Union Budget 2020-21 be presented?

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2020-21 on February 1 or Saturday in the Lok Sabha at 11.00 am.

The Budget session of the Parliament will be held in two phases. The first phase will be held from January 31 to February 11 while the second phase will be held from March 2 to April 3. The budget session of the Parliament will begin with a speech from President Ram Nath Kovind on January 31 at 11.00 am.
