Controversial Calcutta High Court judge Justice CS Karnan today appeared before the Supreme Court which granted him four weeks' time to respond to the contempt notice while rejecting the submission that his administrative and judicial powers be restored.

A seven-judge bench headed by Chief Justice JS Khehar took note of personal appearance of Justice Karnan, a first in the history of Indian judiciary, and asked him to respond to the allegations leveled against various judges in his several communications.

High Court Refuses To Quash Assets Case Filed Against CM Virbhadra Singh

The Delhi High Court today dismissed Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and his wife's plea seeking quashing of the disproportionate assets case filed by the CBI.

Justice Vipin Sanghi also vacated the Himachal Pradesh High Court's interim order of October 1, 2015 restraining CBI from arresting, interrogating or filing a charge sheet in the case without the court's permission.
